Last Minute Trip to Las Vegas

- admin

“Sacha quickly go pack your bags were leaving to Las Vegas tomorrow morning.”

-Toshi (My boss)

I’m an intern at Manhattan Center doing Video Production for Lovin’ Life Ministries. The ministry was traveling from New York to Vegas to put on a show in the west coast for the first time. I ran home to pack all my bags, I was excited. This would be my first time visiting first time in Vegas.

The first thing I noticed when we left the airport was the weather! The dry weather reminded me of my hometown in Colorado. It was hot almost 80 degrees, I had to remove layers of clothing.

We stayed at two different hotels:

The Riviera was nice. When we walked in the hotel I was overwhelmed by all the noise of the slot machines. When we went to check in at the computers, I was glad there was a person to help us because the computer didn’t find my name at first. On our way to the room we passed by a beautiful outdoor pool, which I got to swim in later. You can see the pool and the strip out the window. We went out for a short walk and visited gift shops along the strip.

The next hotel we stayed at was the South Point Hotel, located southwest of the Las Vegas strip. The hotel was fully booked that night, so we had to wait in a long line to check-in. People of all ages over 21 were testing their luck at the penny slots and other gambling games. I could hear the sounds of instant winners going ding ding ding. Lucky for me they had more than just gambling to do in the hotel. There’s a movie theater, bowling alley, and of course delicious buffets! There’s a spa, casino, and little shops too. They have so many areas for events too. I kept getting lost going to the wrong event room. I was pleased with the rooms, they have a lot more space than the room at the Riviera. My only complaint is that I wish there was free wifi in hotel rooms. Why must I pay so much money for internet, it’s like air for our generation?

My favorite part about Vegas was the food. All the buffets had all you can eat American food. I would start with a salad mixed with all sorts of veggies and then move on to the seafood which included cold shrimp, cooked shrimp, crab legs, and oysters. Of course you can’t forget the traditional roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. They had so much to choose from! We ate there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I never ate so much food in my life! Every time I’d leave feeling so full and the taste was totally worth the indigestion.

On our last night we (myself and the people I work with) were given a free ticket by our pastor to the Cirque Du Soleil show, Love. I have never been to a show like this in my entire life, I’ve only heard about it and know it was started in Canada.

I LOVED it! I never knew humans were capable of doing such incredible stunts. I feel like such a turtle now that I’ve seen what these cirque people’s bodies are capable of. I want to stretch everyday and at least learn how to do a front flip before I die. They make it look so easy!

I was blown away by how smooth the whole show went, the transitions were great. The lights were beautiful and they always had a lot going on. I was at the edge of my seat with my jaw dropped in awe as I was surrounded by incredible flips, colors and dance.

My only complaint was that I had to leave early to catch my flight. It hurts my stomach whenever I share that with people. I had to leave thirty minutes in to the performance and I missed a whole hour… *boo hoo*

I’m going to see this show again. It is so worth $125! If you’re ever in Vegas or have a cirque show in your area, I recommend going to it. It also makes a great gift that will leave your guest feeling incredibly grateful since it was truly an experience I will never forget.

This blog explains the whole show in detail:

This concludes my experience in Vegas. As a teen in the City of Sin with a sensitive stomach, I had a pretty holy experience. I recommend staying away from the buffet meals everyday unless you can control your eating habits. Be safe, don’t do anything your mother wouldn’t proud of and you’ll have a great time! I came for work purposes and left ready to go back for a vacation. If you have any questions or comments about the hotels or cirque du soleil show please share below. Thanks for listening!
