Parks of New Jersey: Turkey Swamp County Park

- Ginny

Interestingly enough, the title of the park can be misleading – for there is no actual swamp in the park nor are there any turkeys. The park was entitled “Turkey Swamp” because the town that it is located in, now called Adelphia, was once Turkey.

Turkey Swamp Park is part of the unique New Jersey Pinelands, containing 8 miles of trails in forest and along the lake, an archery range, two soccer fields, picnic areas, campgrounds, and a place to rent paddle boats and canoes.

It’s a great place for a day of walking the trails, biking, throwing the frisbee… whatever!
If you have young kids, along the walking trials there are a few playgrounds that I used to play on as a child. I have shared many memories and spent many fun days with friends and family throughout this park.

If you’re looking for a great time outdoors, Turkey Swamp Park should be a place to consider.
