Looking for summer in December? Visit Buenos Aires, Argentina!

- Ginny

Hello all!

If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the cold winter, you should consider visiting the southern hemisphere where it is currently summer.

I want to tell you about a favorite spot in South America: the city of Buenos Aires, also the capital of Argentina. Not only is it a historically, culturally, and aesthetically rich city; it is also warmer there than in most of the U.S. at this time of the year.

Colorfully painted homes is something that the city is well-known for.

There is so much to do in and around Buenos Aires, I don’t know where to begin! So, I’ll just highlight some aspects of the city to get you started…

— Argentina is the birthplace of tango music! You can find tango dancers and bands performing in the streets all over the city.

— San Telmo is the oldest neighborhood of Buenos Aires, with plenty of colonial buildings and antique stores. The Plaza Dorrego is known for its outdoor antique market and the tango performances that occur there. And, the dance floors are often open to whoever wants to tango.

— An amazing sculpture in United Nation Plaza that would be well worth visiting is the “Floralis Generica”, created in 2002.

— I found a great site that provides pictures of “Recoleta”, a downtown residential neighborhood. It’s another awesome spot to visit. Here’s the link.

…. Of course. These are just some suggestions to get you started! For more site-seeing ideas, you could visit here!
