Jazzing It Up In Wilmington

- Justine

When I think of vacationing in North Carolina, I automatically think of the Outer Banks: the shore, the cute little beach towns, Kitty Hawk, and so on. But during the off-season, there’s an awesome event for appreciators of music: the North Carolina Jazz Festival! For three days in February, the city of Wilmington hosts a cabaret-style performance of fifteen world-class jazz artists. This will be the 31st year of the festival, making it one of the oldest traditional jazz festivals in the country. Among the prominent performers are Jonathan Russell (violin), Bucky Pizzarelli (guitar), and Rossanno Sportiello (piano).

So if you’re in the area around President’s Day weekend, stop by Wilmington and see live concerts each night February 17th-19th. If you already love jazz, you’ll be in heaven, and if you can’t tell a riff from a run, here’s your opportunity to introduce yourself to the genre!
