Disneyland, not Disney World

Anaheim, California is home to the Anaheim Angels, the Flightdeck Air Combat Center, and Disney Land. Yes, Disney Land, not Disney World.

 When I tell people I have been to Disneyland, I am often corrected with a, “You mean Disney World?” No, I do not mean Disney World in Orlando, Florida, I mean Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Having been to both, I can tell you the two are very different. Many assume Disneyland is worse because it is smaller and less well-known, but all I can say is that it is different. As DisneyGeek.com says, “Trying to compare Walt Disney World to Disneyland is like trying to compare a desktop computer to a laptop.” Most people, like myself, have made trips both to Disney World and Disneyland and could not choose which one is “better”. Though the size is much different, they both have their unique attractions and specialties.

So what are some of Disneyland’s unique attractions?

• Sailing Ship Columbia is a remarkable attraction that is a full-scale replica of Columbia Rediviva. It is a 12-minute ride around what is called the artifical “Rivers of America”.
• Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden eye is a dark ride motion stimulator that came out on March 4th, 1995.  This thrill ride takes you on a journey through a story based on the Indiana Jones’ movies.
• Storybook Land Canals, now an attraction in Disneyland Park (Paris) as well, is an outdoor boat ride through a canal inspired by various Disney classics, such as the Little Mermaid and Pinocchio.
• New Orleans Square is a themed land that resembles 19th century New Orleans. In this square, the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion rides could be found.

Disneyland is also home to Spieling Peter, a Peter Pan impersonator who has become an internet sensation. His non-sensical behavior and witty remarks have made him an attraction in itself for many Disneyland visitors.
