"the trusted voice of teens who travel"
July 2nd, 2012
I’ve been to a bunch of resorts in Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean and love that relaxed resort feeling. But I know that not everyone can afford the airfare to those tropical spots, so I thought I’d tell you about a city resort right here in the U.S.
I bet you’re still thinking the resort is in a year-round warm climate – wrong! It’s in Boston!
The Royal Sonesta Cambridge is an in-city resort set overlooking the scenic Charles River. We were there recently and since I’m always taking photos, I really enjoyed the awesome views of the Boston skyline from the resort. I also liked the Galleria shopping mall across the street. Some of the 120 shops include Gap, the Apple Store and great food court for ice cream, lunch and more.
My Mom enjoyed the resort’s Art Bar where she could dine indoors or out. She’s a big fan of soy chai lattes and the Royal Sonesta Hotel scored brownie points because they made great ones at the Art Bar. She also remarked that the art collection in the public areas made her feel like she was on a cruise ship.
Ethan, my little brother, likes action so he loved the pool – there’s a cool glassed in roof over the pool but the doors open up to let in outside air too. My mom and I thought it was great that we could relax on lounge chairs on the adjacent outdoor patio but still keep an eye on my brother. What Ethan really enjoyed is that the Royal Sonesta Cambridge is two T (subway) stops from the arena where he watched the Celtics play (and lose).
To make the most of this in-city resort and all that it offers in the warm weather, check out the activities there during “Summer Fest” which goes until Labor Day:
And when you add all the fun things to do by and on the water in Boston with the Royal Sonesta Cambridge, you’ll see why it really feels like you’ve gotten away for a resort vacation here. Oh, and don’t forget to pack your resort wear.
