"the trusted voice of teens who travel"
June 21st, 2014
Recently my family and I ventured off to Florida to ride the Disney Fantasy, Disney’s newest cruise ship. There were 10 of us in total and we had a blast. One of the highlights of our trip was Pirate Night.
What is Pirate Night?
It’s a designated night on the cruise where there is a swashbuckling party on the top deck, complete with fireworks! Many of the characters come out in pirate costumes and for a memorable photo, its fun to dress up.
Do people really dress up?
Yes, about 99% of our cruise ship had all of the people dressed up. I don’t think I remember many people that weren’t dressed up. Even grandparents, babies, and teenagers were all dressed up.
What characters dress up?
There are many characters that have their pirate gear on such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, and Stitch. There are also special characters that come out like Captain Jack Sparrow (he was my favorite, very much like the Johnny Depp one), Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Peter Pan. Peter Pan was very into character and had lots of fun with all of the guests.
What’s at the party?
The party includes a show where you help Mickey Mouse fight against the pirates. The firework show is really neat especially since Disney is the only cruise line that is able to have fireworks. (This was late at night, so the little kids in my family were really tired by this time and had fallen asleep). Don’t forget that the party includes a delicious buffet. There are turkey legs, a sundae bar, and made to order crepes.
Dressing up was really fun, I got my costume at a party store and just accessorized from there. Seeing my family dance around in their costumes has given us some memories that will last a lifetime.
